Rescue Me is an American dramedy television series that lasted on the air for seven seasons and focuses on the fictional New York City firefighters of Harlem, Manhattan's Engine 99/Ladder 62 firehouse. The show spends extra time on Tommy Gavin, played by comedian and actor Denis Leary, and his family against a background of issues, both domestic and more national circa post-September 11th. Tommy struggles to cope with his grief at the loss of his best friend and cousin, Jimmy Keefe. Jimmy visits Tommy in several visions. At the show's onset, Tommy and his wife have separated, with Tommy moving to an apartment complex across the street. Although Tommy is good-natured and well-intentioned, his hot temper, self-destructive nature, hypocrisy, and return to alcoholism, leave those who know him to view him as a manipulative and self-centered human being.

Other storylines running throughout the series include: - a gay firefighter being attacked for claiming that some of the firefighters who came to the rescue after the September 11th attack were gay. - Sean Garrity begins sleeping around with women, including one of Franco Rivera's ex-girlfriends, leading to Franco discovering that said woman gave birth to a daughter with him as the father. - Tommy begins to court Jimmy Keefe's widow Sheila (which is an absolutely unthinkable act among the firefighters) and Mike Siletti secretly dates 'fatty' Theresa.

Java games online. - Lieutenant Ken Shea deals with the effects of September 11th by writing poetry and even takes up adultery after learning that his wife will be leaving him. - After Billy Martin dies in service, the city sends a female replacement to the Fire House. Laura Miles deals with being forced to deal with what amounts to be a men's club in the fire house, keeping an especially watchful eye on Tommy. Laura's reasons for watching Tommy are due to reports that his behavior and actions are becoming more and more reckless and self-destructive.
